Let's try something new

When I first started this project I had several goals in mind. My main goal was to get outside of my city, meet new people and have incredible experiences. My vision began when I met a sport-anthropologist from Massachusetts named Jillian Fisher. She travels around the country and (now) the world to take in some amazing experiences.

At the time when I met Jillian, I was unsettled in my life and I wanted to make a change. Jillian was a catalyst in helping me find what I wanted to do. I was an accomplished writer in college, and frequently drew accolades from professors in various literature classes. I started as a journalism major when I began my college career, and eventually found my way to the always versatile communications degree.

Listening to Jillian's story got me excited and inspired. I thought why couldn't I do what she does, but on a much smaller scale? That thought is what eventually lead to the creation of this website. I've had great success with the website and a tremendous amount of fun. I want to stress I am not going anywhere.

An interesting offer has presented itself. When February began, a Columbus Crew SC website called the Massive Report was hiring. As some of you may know, the Columbus Crew SC hold a very special place in my heart. The opportunity was too good to pass up, and I submitted a writing sample. I then anxiously awaited a decision from the editors.

I continued to work for the month of February and I didn't hear anything from the editors. Naturally, I began to come to grips with the fact I didn't get the job. It wasn't until I was working on my most recent story that I got an email for one of the editors. The email stated that they really liked my piece and that the editors wanted to extend an offer to write for them! I got the news as I was heading to bed. Understandably, I didn't sleep well that night.

This week has been one of the most exciting and gratifying weeks I've ever had. My debut article went up on Massive Report. I've been exposed to some excellent journalism professionals and they are making me better everyday. I'm so thankful for this opportunity and I cannot wait to share this journey with you. I will still be traveling and do everything I intended to do with this project. Now you will have the opportunity to get more content from me and some of the best soccer professionals around.
