With the holiday season and the end of a decade looming, I find myself pausing for reflection and counting my blessings this past year. The 2010s were a period of discovery for me. I experienced things that just about any human does. I fell in love, failed, underachieved, and experienced tragedy.

Those were the bad moments.

That’s just the nature of being human, you know? One fails, learns from it, and improves.

The middle of the decade led to a period of self-discovery and rebirth. Now that we have arrived at the end of 2019 it seems I’m right where I want to be.

My transformation began in 2017, fresh off meeting an upstart sports anthropologist named Jillian Fisher (yes, that Jillian Fisher). She helped light a fire inside of me and made me realize that I wanted to be involved in a career in sports. Someway, somehow, I was going to be in the realm of sports.

That led to the creation of this very website you’re visiting to read this article. Granted, it hasn’t received as much love as it should but it’s the hub of my work and largely responsible for where I am today.

Creating my website led to the courage of posting for a position with Massive Report and subsequently opened the door to working for Columbus Wired. Through both positions I was afforded the opportunity to work with world class talent on the field and in the media workroom. I’ve befriended some of the greatest humans one can know and that allowed me to make a jump into collegiate athletics.

Since landing at Ohio Dominican, I’ve been nothing short of blessed. I work alongside a great coaching staff and my role has increased on a greater scale as I’ve began working with other sports during our offseason.

All I needed was the opportunity. People that decided that they wanted to take a chance on me, hand me the keys to the proverbial car and said “drive.”

This Christmas season and heading into a new decade, I’m thankful for those that gave me an opportunity. My family, friends, and people that I may have known for just a couple of months. I wouldn’t be where I am today without you.

I’m thankful.

2020 is going to be an exciting year filled with greater challenges and even greater rewards. I can’t wait to take this journey with you and I look forward to bringing it to you every step of the way.
