The Columbus Crew welcomed New York City FC to MAPFRE Stadium for the final full season home opener in the stadium's history. Next season the Black and Gold plan on opening a new stadium located in downtown Columbus, Ohio.

Columbus' new designated player Lucas Zelarayan impressed throughout the contest. His bending ball past NYCFC goalkeeper Sean Johnson in the 56th minute lifted the Crew to a 1-0 victory.
